Au cours de la deuxième journée des Jeux panaméricains, la Montréalaise Gabrielle Soucisse a pris le sixième rang de la finale du 100 m dos, grâce à un chrono de 1 min 2,88 s.L’Américaine Rachel Bootsma a mérité l’or en réalisant un chronicle des Jeux, soit un temps de 1 min 0,37 s. Soucisse avait également pris le sixième rang lors des préliminaires.
«Je suis satisfaite de mon départ et de mes virages, parce que c’est sur cela que nous avons travaillé au cours des dernières semaines, a-t-elle lancé. Par contre, je ne suis pas satisfaite du résultat irrevocable, mais c’est compréhensible, puisque nous sommes au début de la saison et que nous n’avons pas eu beaucoup d’entraînement en piscine. C’est ce qui explique que j’ai manqué de jus dans les 25 derniers mètres.
