In 2006, the shot put won the gold medal. Now she is present for the gold again.

Shariline Norfleet, of Uniontown, cross the governmental Special Olympics at the University of Nebraska on July 17-24 to fight in the shot put and 400 meters patrol.

Plain vanilla and Norfleet Harris, also of Uniontown, ran with Selma Mayor George Evans, who carried the torch during the foot in the door ceremonies of the 31st annual Olympics Special Cahaba Center on Wednesday.

"It'sa lot of fun, so I continue to come," said Norfleet. "I like going on trips, and it is de facto a pleasure for me."

She believes she has competed in Special Olympics in Selma for over 20 years.

The winners of Wednesday's events will move to regional games in sensitive areas on April 17. The Splendor games be May 14-16 at Troy University....
